Then Jehovah said to Gidʹe·on: “Separate everyone who laps up the water with his tongue just as a dog laps, from those who bend down on their knees to drink.” 6 The number of those lapping up the water, putting their hand to their mouth, was 300 men. The rest of the people bent down on their knees to drink. - Judges 7 ----------------------------------- Jehovah really doesn't need us. The rocks can do the job, and the only Messiah he needed to defeat Satan was his son. But he'll still take some humans along for the journey! Gideon and his 300 from Israel are a preview, and next time our creator will turn the entire world system on it's head, just like he did with 12 men 2000 years ago. Anyone reading this forum is probably ~30-50 years ahead of the world system from the standpoint of how this will eventuate, but it's becoming more clear each day. Just like Israel, fearing that they would be wiped out, Jehovah has told us there would be a "great falling away", which is to say, people will give up on the faith. Therefore, while we don't need to be in the 300, we certainly should drink from the water that Jehovah offers so we can avoid the great deceptions that will take place.
Yes, we must be prepared. That is why it is necessary to study his word every day. It is the only way for us to identify the enemies of Jehovah and His Son.
below is a little bit out of Russell’s commentary he did say which I have not copied and pasted is that the water they drank represented the truth...and Gideon was a sort of representation of Jesus... Every one can make up their own mind as to if it is a type and anti type thing.. FROM RUSSELLS BIBLE COMMENTARY 7: 6 Putting their hand.. Symbol of energy........................Z '07-331 To th~ir mouth....• Thus maintaining their own erectness of man- hood; showing energy and discretion in drinking, and lifting up their heads in ac- knowledgment of the heavenly origin of the truth .................................
