Did you know that the plagues in Egypt were a direct assault on the Egyptian gods?

Jehovah was repudiating their 'power' and showing that HE alone is the true God.

Even Pharaoh, who considered himself a god, repented for a time.

This same notion is repeated when Baal, the god of storms and the air, is unable to overturn the drought called down by Elijah, or produce fire from the sky (lightning) to burn the alter the Baal priests had setup.

While I was researching some of these connections, I found this handy graphic and thought I would share:

    Awesome !!!! Thanks Singlecell !!!!

In some ways, Moses and Elijah's works were very similar. They came to fetch God's people, in either physical or spiritual ways and proved the false golds wrong and powerless.

All of this being also a type, the greatest slap in the face will be to Satan, the god of this system of things, like Pharaoh, and who doesn't want his human slaves to get away from his clutches... He may have had witnessed the death of his firstborn children and seen the firstborn children of Israel cross the Red Sea.

Did Moses staff turn into a Cobra?

If so then it would seem to be another incident where Jehovah showed Egypt that he was the only true God.

The Pharaoh wore snake / cobra emblems and headdress.

When the 'magic practicing priests' changed their staffs into snakes, it is fitting that Moses staff-snake ate them.

Completely humiliating the 'priest' class of Egypt, and the first incident where Jehovah revealed himself to the nations.

Jehovah gave the Egyptians 9 chances to let is real leave before he sent the killer plague!

the Egyptians did not need to suffer!

its like that today we don't have to wait to be punished. we can obey god right now and avoid a punishment!

just what do you suppose would have happened if Rameses would have said Jehovah said its time for you to go. then go quickly for I know that Jehovah is god and I'm not stupid enough to rebel against him!

    whole different ball game!
